Order cut metal through your AI assistant

Connect Claude or another assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP). Ask it to price a cut list or order steel and aluminum cut to your lengths. Prices, totals and ship-by dates come from the same system as our Buy Metal page, and you pay on a secure Stripe checkout page.

  • Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, then paste the address above.
  • Other MCP clients: add a remote server using Streamable HTTP at the same address.

Then ask, for example: “Price four 24 inch pieces of 1/4 x 2 A36 flat bar with mill certs.”

What the connector can do

  • list_materials (Read only): Lists the steel and aluminum sections you can buy cut to length: flat bar, angle and square tube, with each section's fixed size, longest piece and order limits.
  • price_cut_list (Read only): Prices a whole cut list of up to eight lines: line subtotals, deburring, mill certificates, the $35 merchandise minimum and an estimated ship-by date. Nothing is reserved.
  • place_order (Creates an order; your assistant asks you first): Creates the order after you approve the price and ship-by date, adds delivery and sales tax, and returns a Stripe checkout link. You pay on Stripe. It takes no payment itself.
  • get_order (Read only): Shows an order's status, totals, ship-by date and whether it is paid.

Pricing and limits

  • Up to eight cut lines and 1,000 pieces per order, priced together as one order.
  • $35 merchandise minimum. Deburring is $2.00 per piece. Mill test reports are $15.00 per material.
  • Delivery anywhere in the lower 48 United States. Delivery and sales tax are added when the order is placed.
  • The longest piece is one full supplier stick, usually 20 feet. Longer pieces, other sizes or added work get a custom request.
  • Notes go to the shop. If a note changes the work, we contact you before cutting.

Your approval and your payment

Your assistant shows you the total and ship-by date before it creates an order, and by default Claude asks for your confirmation before every order. Every order has a spending ceiling you set; if the total would be higher, no checkout is created. Payment happens only on the Stripe checkout page, so card details never pass through the assistant or this connector. Retrying the same order does not create a duplicate.

Privacy and support

The connector uses only what an order needs: your name, email, optional phone and company, PO number and delivery address. It does not read your conversations. See our privacy policy and terms.
